Job summary

Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. is seeking an experienced Roll Shop/Machinist helper to read blueprints, inspect rolls, and support rebuilding and aligning mill components. You will use drawings, specifications, and precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet exact tolerances.

Responsibilities include disassembling and installing mill stands, performing adjustments, and assisting with changeovers. A high school diploma or GED and basic computer skills are required; 6 months to 2 years in Roll Shop is

Qualifications

• Must read blueprints and manuals to obtain roll specifications.
• Inspect rolls/guides for conformance to specifications and adjust as needed.
• Basic math, problem solving, ability to multi-task, and analytical skills.
• Interpret charts, schedules, and touchscreens when applicable.
• 6 months to 2 years of Roll Shop experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and manuals to determine roll specs and set up requirements.
• Inspect assembled rolls/guides for conformance to specs and adjust as required.
• Rebuild and align mill rolls and stands; remove slag and assemble components as directed.
• Assist with disassembly and installation of mill stands and new rolls.
• Support maintenance, cobble removal, and inventory of consumables.
• Perform routine equipment care and maintain clean work areas.
