Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. in Valley City, OH, is seeking a CNC Prototype Machinist to program, set up, and operate 4- and 5-axis mills and lathes to fabricate prototype parts to precise specifications.

You will review CAD files, read blueprints, program with Mastercam, select tools, inspect parts, and collaborate with engineers while maintaining documentation and upholding safety and lean practices.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in CNC programming, machining, or related field preferred; or at least three years CNC programming experience with Mastercam or similar.
• 2+ years of hands-on CNC programming and operation experience, preferably with prototypes or low-volume production.
• Able to read CAD models, blueprints, and technical drawings with accuracy.
• Familiar with MS Office for documentation and communication.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma is a plus.
• Safety-minded, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player.
• Willingness to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (4- and 5-axis mills, lathes, multi-axis) for prototypes and small runs.
• Review CAD files and drawings from engineering for project specifications.
• Read work instructions and blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Program CNC machines using Mastercam to create precise parts.
• Select tools, fixtures and materials per engineering requirements.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools for quality.
• Collaborate with engineers to optimize manufacturability and resolve issues.
• Maintain documentation of CNC programming, setups, material usage, and improvements.
• Troubleshoot CNC machines, tooling, or processes; uphold safety and shop organization.
