Job summary

Intellectual Ventures in Bellevue, Washington is seeking a qualified CNC Programmer & Prototype Machinist (Scientific Instrument Maker) to design, fabricate, assemble and test prototypes and experiments within the SIMTG group.

You will operate CNC machines, generate CAM code, create CAD drawings, and work with engineers to turn concepts into build-ready parts while maintaining quality and safety throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
• Prefer CAM experience using SolidWorks/Hypermill in design and programming work.
• Perform programming, setup, and operation of CNC machining centers, and CNC lathes.
• Experience with CNC EDM also desirable.
• Welding experience (TIG/MIG, arc and gas) desirable.
• Materials selection and finish planning for parts.
• Make jigs, fixtures, and devices for machining and assembly.
• Ability to determine methods and procedures for new assignments.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, construct precision prototype instruments and assemblies.
• Assist in design and modeling of instruments and tooling for engineers and customers.
• Assemble, test, and evaluate devices to meet customer requirements.
• Design parts and tooling using CAD; generate manufacturing drawings.
• Create CAM machine code to produce parts on CNC tools.
• Set up manual and CNC machines to produce parts per drawings.
• Meet production schedules and maintain timekeeping and safety standards.
