Job summary

Intellectual Ventures in Bellevue, WA, is seeking a CNC Programmer & Prototype Machinist (Scientific Instrument Maker) to design, fabricate, assemble, and test prototype instruments and experiments. The role requires operating CNC machinery, CAD/CAM tooling, and collaborating with engineers and technicians.

You will prepare drawings, manage machine setups, and generate CAM tool paths. The team emphasizes precision, process documentation, and meeting project deadlines in a fast-paced lab

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
• CAM experience using SolidWorks/Hypermill in design and programming.
• Experience with programming, set-up, and operation of CNC machining centers and CNC lathes.
• Experience with CNC EDM is desirable.
• Welding experience (TIG/MIG, arc and gas welding, soldering, brazing) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Construct precision prototype instruments, devices, parts, models, jigs, fixtures, dies, and assemblies from raw stock and purchased materials.
• Assist in design and modeling of instruments, parts, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and assemblies for engineers, customers, and manufacturers.
• Assemble, test, and evaluate devices to meet customer requirements.
• Prepare CAD drawings and generate machine code to manufacture parts.
• Create tool paths and machine code for CNC machines; set up machines and ensure on-time delivery.
