Job summary

MDS Staffing, on behalf of our client, is seeking a CNC Programmer in Buffalo, NY to develop and optimize programs for precision machined parts. You will work closely with machinists, manufacturing engineering, and quality to translate engineering requirements into safe, efficient processes that meet dimensional and surface finish specs.

Qualifications

• Practical CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T.
• Working knowledge of G-code and M-code, machining principles, cutting tools, and workholding.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software, program verification, and shop-floor troubleshooting.
• Ability to use precision inspection tools and communicate effectively with machinists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs from drawings and requirements.
• Develop machining sequences and select tools, holders, workholding, speeds, feeds, and setup strategies.
• Use CAD/CAM tools and verification methods to identify risks before release.
• Support first-piece prove-outs, machine setups, troubleshooting, and program adjustments.
• Optimize toolpaths, cycle times, tool life, surface finish, and dimensional consistency.
• Prepare setup sheets, tooling lists, documentation, and operator instructions; maintain revision control.
• Collaborate with quality to address dimensional issues and verify prints.
• Assist with fixture concepts and feedback on manufacturability.
