Job summary

The American Housing Corporation in Austin, TX is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and maintain programs for multi-axis machines that manufacture components for our proprietary building system. You will translate engineering drawings and 3D models into efficient toolpaths, select tooling, and set up processes on the floor.

You will collaborate with engineering and production to improve manufacturability, perform first article inspections, and troubleshoot issues.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on CNC Programmer experience in a precision machining environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or CNC programming certificate preferred.
• Strong proficiency with CAM software; Mastercam preferred, with Fusion 360, SolidCAM, Siemens NX or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming, including manual edits and troubleshooting.
• Experience programming multi-axis CNC equipment, including 3- and 4-axis mills and lathes; 5-axis machining preferred.
• Ability to read GD&T and engineering drawings (ASME Y14.5) and 3D CAD models.
• Familiarity with post-processors and CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Mazak, Okuma) preferred.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous-improvement experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering drawings, CAD models, and specs to determine machining processes, tooling, and workholding methods.
• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines using CAM software.
• Generate toolpaths to maximize material removal, minimize cycle times, and maintain tight tolerances.
• Select cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and depths of cut based on material properties.
• Perform prove-outs, first-article inspections, and process validation on the shop floor.
• Troubleshoot tool wear, chatter, dimensional errors, and surface finish issues; revise programs as needed.
• Maintain organized program libraries, tooling docs, setup sheets, and process records.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production to improve manufacturability and DFx feedback.
