Job summary

The American Housing Corporation is seeking a CNC Programmer in Austin, TX to develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for multi-axis machining used in our proprietary building systems.

You will translate drawings and 3D models into efficient programs, develop tooling, validate processes on the production floor, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure safe, high-quality manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on CNC programming in a precision machining environment.
• High school diploma or GED; technical CNC degree or certificate preferred.
• Mastercam or similar CAM software; Fusion 360/SolidCAM acceptable.
• Strong proficiency with G-code/M-code and ability to edit at the control.
• Experience with 3- to 5-axis machinery; 5-axis preferred.
• Ability to read complex drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Familiarity with metrology tools and basic inspection; CMM a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork on the shop floor.
• Post-processor customization knowledge; various controls.
• Background in aerospace/medical/precision industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings and CAD models to determine machining processes.
• Create and optimize CNC programs for 3–5 axis mills and lathes.
• Generate toolpaths to maximize material removal and minimize cycle times.
• Select tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials.
• Perform prove-outs and first-article inspections on the floor.
• Troubleshoot tool wear, chatter, dimensional errors, and surface finish.
• Maintain program libraries and setup sheets.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams.
• Support continuous improvement for cycle-time and scrap reduction.
• Adhere to safety and company policies; keep workspace organized.
