Job summary

Sonaca North America is seeking a Programmer to develop and improve technical manufacturing solutions for new and existing programs. You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management to optimize part programs and manufacturing processes. Travel up to 10% is possible.

The role involves programming multiple axis CNC mills, using Catia V5, Catia V6, and CAD/CAM tools, while ensuring parts are produced to print and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; technical degree preferred.
• 3–5 years' experience in MasterCam.
• Experience programming with Catia V5/6, CAD/CAM, NX is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of machining experience.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
• Knowledge of G codes, M codes, Cutter comps, offsets, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• This position requires good understanding of part holding, machine operation and G codes.
• Good reasoning, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask; flexibility and open mindedness desired.

Responsibilities

• Prepares Run Instructions, Setup Sheets and Tool Lists for parts being programmed.
• Pulling files from Catia and reviewing 3D CAD blueprints.
• Creates multi-axis toolpaths for CNC mills using Catia V5-R32.
• Creates 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC mill programs.
• Updates repeat jobs to current standards and revisions.
• Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests.
• Selects cutting tools and calculates feeds and speeds.
• Analyzes operation sequences to optimize time.
• Writes programs using Post Processors and edits for efficiency.
• Works with engineering to ensure programs meet prints and quality.
• Develops manufacturing options for new product introduction.
