Job summary

Northstar Aerospace is seeking a CNC Programmer in Chicago area to develop CNC programs, setup/work instructions, and inspection methods for multi-axis machining. You will support manufacturing processes and process improvements as part of programming efforts.

The role requires five years’ experience, proficiency with Siemens NX or DP technology Esprit, and knowledge of Mazak Integrex and Okuma Multus tooling, with attention to quality and documentation in Teamcenter.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• BS Degree in Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience programming Multi-Axis CNC Lathes/Mills.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering leadership to product design, manufacturing process, and capital equipment development.
• Interpret engineering drawings and develop CNC programs using CAD/CAM software or manual programming.
• Provide technical support to the manufacturing group regarding CNC tooling, mills, lathes and grinders; interpret inspection data and adjust as needed.
• Determine tooling and gauging requirements to manufacture parts efficiently; source or develop tooling.
• Develop Work Instructions and Setup Instructions to assist manufacturing of parts; generate as needed.
• Develop Inspection Methods and Instructions to ensure parts meet prints and specifications.
• Review production schedules and specs to stay current on methods and activities in the area.
• Maintain CNC programming records in Teamcenter and other systems; manage documentation approvals.
