Job summary

Aero Gear is seeking a CNC Programmer responsible for developing machining programs for aerospace gears. This role involves troubleshooting, cost estimating, and ensuring high quality in production. Ideal candidates will have 5-10 years of relevant experience in Aerospace manufacturing.

Candidates should have experience with CAM systems, strong mechanical aptitude, and excellent teamwork skills. This position requires US work authorization due to government contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain various machining CNC programs for 3/4/5 axis machining.
  • Conduct time study jobs to balance and define operator standard work.
  • Troubleshoot operations including CNC program and tooling issues.
  • Utilize SPC charts to monitor data for trending analysis.
  • Assist in cost estimating for production jobs.
  • Support Engineering and Operations to resolve technical issues.

Position Summary

The CNC Programmer is responsible for the development and implementation of programming into manufacturing operations to meet production requirements and quoted cost. The key emphasis is in process definition and development with technical support of tooling, work instructions, floor support, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain various machining CNC programs for 3/4/5 axis machining and turning centers to meet customer design criteria and manufacturing cadence to ensure the highest quality of manufactured components.
  • Conduct time study jobs to balance and define operator standard work. Generate standard work charts and process capacity table and compare actual performance to quoted estimates in current cost models.
  • Troubleshoot and improve operations including but not limited to fixturing issues, CNC program and/or parameter issues and expendable tooling issues until problem is resolved.
  • Utilize SPC charts and other process capability methods to increase first time yields to within quoted standards and monitor data for trending analysis.
  • Assist in cost estimating for production jobs and for all new product introduction (NPI) requests and interaction with tooling vendors.
  • Support Engineering and Operations to resolve technical issues with customers and suppliers regarding processes, purchase orders and specifications.

Competencies
  • Experience with CAM systems such as Esprit (preferred), EdgeCam, MasterCam, Fusion360, GibbsCam
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude

  • Solid Modeling using SolidWorks or NX, experience with ERP Systems
Experience
  • 5-10 years previous programming experience in Aerospace manufacturing supporting CNC lathes, mills and grinding equipment.
