Job summary

Aero Gear in Windsor, CT is seeking a Shaping Machinist to independently set up and operate CNC milling centers and manual shapers. You will read process travelers, setup journals, operation sheets and CMM inspection reports to produce complex finished products.

Responsibilities include tool setup, offsets, inspection with gauges and micrometers, TPM duties, coolant handling, and maintaining clean, safe work areas while collaborating in cross-training and cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year aerospace CNC machining experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Degree/certificate from vocation school or college is a plus, but extensive experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand process travelers, setup journals, operation sheets and CMM inspection reports to produce complex finished product.
• Setup, tooling adjustments and program offsets as necessary.
• Inspect work using gauges, indicators and micrometers.
• Perform TPM responsibilities daily.
• Work with water-base and oil-base machine coolant.
• Maintain housekeeping and follow safety rules; wear PPE.
• Participate in cross-training, cost savings and team activities to improve processes.

Position Summary

The Shaping Machinist will independently and safely set up and operate CNC Milling centers and manual shapers.

Essential Functions

• Read and understand process travelers, setup journals, operation sheets and CMM inspection reports to produce complex finished product.
• Setup, tooling adjustments and program offsets as necessary.
• Ability to accurately inspect work utilizing various instruments including gages, indicators and micrometers.
• Perform daily TPM responsibilities.
• Ability to work in both water-base and oil-base machine coolant
• Maintain good housekeeping practices on machines and in work area. Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations. Wear necessary personal protective equipment as required
• Actively participate in cross-training, cost savings and team activities to improve processes.
• Maintain appropriate tact and diplomacy in dealings with co-workers, team members and supervisors.

Experience and Education

Compensation

$40000 - $100000 / year

Compensation is paid hourly and may be adjusted based on level of experience, overtime and shift.
