Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. in Abilene, TX is seeking skilled CNC Machine Operators to join a precision manufacturing team.

You will set up full production cycles and operate CNC lathe machines, read blueprints, apply GD&T, troubleshoot programs, and conduct in-process inspections to ensure quality. This is a full-time, on-site role on the 3rd shift (Sunday–Thursday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM) with safety-focused work, daily documentation, and opportunities to advance within a longstanding, family‑owned

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and route instructions.
• Knowledge of GD&T applications.
• Set up and operate CNC lathe machines.
• Proficient in taking measurements with calipers and gauges.
• Ability to document machining procedures accurately.
• Experience with shop mathematics and tolerances.
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled shop and standing entire shift.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.

Responsibilities

• CNC operation: set up full production cycle and operate CNC lathe machines.
• Machine optimization: reduce setup times and improve productivity.
• Blueprint interpretation and route instruction reading.
• Apply GD&T to parts and maintain tolerances.
• Program troubleshooting and adjustments as needed.
• Follow in-process inspections and report non-conformances.
• Collaborate with superintendents, managers, and quality staff.
• Maintain safety and document shift activities and maintenance.
• Perform daily maintenance checks and record findings.
