Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear in Abilene, TX is seeking a Machine Operator for the 2nd shift to set up and operate lathes, mills, drills, presses, and CNC machines, following process sheets and blueprints to meet quality standards.

You will inspect finished parts, maintain a clean, safe work area, and collaborate with team members to optimize production while adhering to all safety protocols. The position offers an on-site environment with a 3:00 PM–11:00 PM schedule and shift premium.

Qualifications

• Math skills and ability to read English instructions.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy items.
• Ability to follow company policies and timekeeping requirements.
• Stamina to stand through full shifts in a non-climate-controlled shop.
• Fundamental machining concepts and use of measuring devices.

Responsibilities

• Follow production instructions from process sheets, blueprints, or supervisor directions.
• Install machine fixtures and set up equipment.
• Operate machines (lathes, mills, drills, presses, CNC) per specs.
• Inspect finished parts for tolerances using calipers, micrometers, gauges.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow PPE rules and safety protocols.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
