Job summary

BARNES AEROSPACE in East Granby, CT, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling and turning equipment. The role involves working with Inconel, Titanium, and stainless steel, interpreting operation sheets, and using Fanuc controls to set offsets and load parts.

You will join a precision manufacturing team focused on tight tolerances and quality. Monday–Friday, 3:30pm–12:00am with a 15% shift differential on second shift; strong math and communication skills are

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an aerospace or high precision manufacturing environment preferred.
• 3+ years of experience operating CNC multi-axis Milling/Turning machine preferred.
• Experience setting up and changing over jobs on CNC equipment.
• Exceptional mechanical ability and strong mathematical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Ability to run 3, 4 and 5 axis milling and/or turning machines
• Must be willing to run multiple machines simultaneously where possible/feasible as most machines are part of manufacturing cells/machining centers
• Ability to work with hard metals such as Inconel, Titanium and Stainless Steel
• Ability to read English and interpret symbols on operation sheets
• Must be proficient in mathematics and be able to use a calculator
• Ability to use Fanuc controls and make offsets as required by the program
• Ability to load part onto a fixture
• Ability to load parts and fixtures onto hoists and operate hoist to load part onto machine
• Ability to read and interpret CNC Programs at the machine
• Must be able to read tool sheets and set up tools for use on a job or part
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers
• Familiarity with operation of Right-Angle Heads
• Must have Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing knowledge
• Must possess the ability to work within tight tolerances such as thousandths
