Job summary

BARNES is seeking individuals for a position in aerospace manufacturing in East Granby, Connecticut. This role requires proficiency in operating CNC multi-axis Milling machines and working with hard metals like Inconel and Titanium. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience, exceptional mechanical abilities, and strong mathematical skills, ensuring quality and precision in machining.

The position is full-time, Monday to Friday from 3:30pm to 12:00am, with a 15% shift differential. Applicants with a strong willingness to learn new trades are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Your Expertise

• 5+ years of experience in an aerospace or high precision manufacturing environment preferred.
• 3 years of experience operating CNC multi-axis Milling machine preferred.
• Experience setting up and changing over jobs on CNC equipment.
• Exceptional mechanical ability and strong mathematical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and problem‑solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues.

Your Challenge

• Ability to run 3, 4 and 5 axis milling and/or turning machines
• Must be willing to run multiple machines simultaneously where possible/feasible as most machines are part of manufacturing cells/machining centers
• Ability to work with hard metals such as Inconel, Titanium and Stainless Steel
• Ability to read English and interpret symbols on operation sheets
• Must be proficient in mathematics and be able to use a calculator
• Ability to use Fanuc controls and make offsets as required by the program
• Ability to load part onto a fixture
• Ability to load parts and fixtures onto hoists and operate hoist to load part onto machine
• Ability to read and interpret CNC Programs at the machine
• Must be able to read tool sheets and set up tools for use on a job or part
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers
• Familiarity with operation of Right‑Angle Heads
• Must have Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing knowledge
• Must possess the ability to work within tight tolerances such as thousandths

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
