Job summary

Barnes Aerospace in Connecticut seeks a skilled CNC machinist to join the 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:30pm) with a 15% differential. You will setup and operate Devlieg milling machines, read blueprints, and apply GD&T to aerospace parts.

Candidates should have 3+ years of machining in aerospace, familiarity with Fanuc controls, and be prepared to learn basic CNC programming. The role requires high attention to measurement with micrometers and gauging, and collaboration with engineering on tooling and

  • 3+ years of experience machining in an aerospace environment.
  • 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC Devlieg Milling Machines.
  • Familiar with Fanuc controls and willing to cross train.
  • Strong math skills and knowledge of GD&T.
  • Familiar with SPC and quality tools.
  • Willing to learn basic CNC programming.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex set ups, edits and operate established and NPI jobs with minimal supervision.
  • Make modifications or adjustments as necessary to ensure conformance.
  • Verify dimensions using micrometers, depth gauge, height gauge, and vernier.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and operations sheets.
  • Collaborate with engineering on material conditions, positioning, and tooling.
  • Detect faulty operations and report issues to supervisor.

Position Details

2nd Shift 3:00pm-11:30pm Mon-Fri plus 15% Differential

Your Expertise
  • 3+ years of experience machining in an aerospace environment
  • Three (3) or more years of experience setting up and operating CNC Devlieg Milling Machines
  • Needs to be familiar with Fanuc controls; willing to cross train on various operations/equipment
  • Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of GD&T
  • Familiar with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Willing to learn basic CNC Programming
Your Challenge
  • Perform complex set ups, edits and operate established and NPI jobs with minimal supervision ensuring parts conform to specifications and requirements. Make modifications or adjustments as necessary
  • Verify dimensions using standard measuring instruments, such as micrometers, depth gauge, height gauge, and vernier
  • Read and interpret blueprints and operations sheets
  • Work with engineering department regarding material conditions, best positioning of part, tool pressure, etc. as required
  • Detect faulty operations and materials and report these along with other problems to immediate supervisor
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
