CNC Milling Technician — Aerospace ToolingSalary commensurate with experience.Location: Berlin, ConnecticutAbout Cambridge Specialty CompanySince 1952, Cambridge Specialty Company has supplied jet engine service tools and precision aircraft components. Our state-of-the-art, 27,500 square foot facility integrates the full suite of equipment needed for efficient, cost-effective production. Paired with a team of highly skilled craftsmen, we deliver on-time and build some of the industry’s finest jet engine service tools and critical flight safety parts and assemblies.A Day in the LifeYou’ll start your shift by reviewing engineering drawings and work instructions, prepping tooling and fixtures, and setting up 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC mills for the day’s runs. You’ll load material, align workpieces, and verify offsets. As the first chips fly, you’ll monitor feeds and speeds, adjust as needed to hold tight tolerances, and complete in-process checks with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision instruments. When a feature demands it, you’ll read GD&T callouts, confirm true position, and collaborate with engineering or programming to troubleshoot and optimize. Throughout the day, you’ll perform routine machine care, maintain a clean and safe work area, and finalize parts with thorough inspections before they move to the next operation. What You’ll DoSet up and operate CNC milling machines (3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis as applicable)Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructionsInstall tooling, fixtures, and workholding; load materials and verify alignmentMonitor machining processes; adjust parameters to maintain tolerancesConduct in-process and final inspections using precision measurement toolsTroubleshoot machining issues; partner with engineering/programming as neededPerform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in top conditionUphold a clean, organized, and safety-first workspaceWhat You BringHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school preferred2+ years of CNC milling experience in a manufacturing environmentSolid grasp of milling operations, tooling, feeds/speeds, and materialsAbility to read blueprints and apply GD&TExperience with CNC controlsProficiency with precision measurement and inspection methodsStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilityComfort working independently and within a collaborative teamPhysical & EnvironmentStand for extended periods; lift up to 50 poundsGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterityManufacturing setting with machinery, noise, and metalworking fluidsPPE required at all times on the shop floorYour Core ToolkitGD&T; Blueprint ReadingG-Code and M-Code fundamentalsCNC Machine Setup & ChangeoverCNC Tooling; Equipment Troubleshooting; Troubleshooting SkillsPrecision Measurement & Hand MetrologyAdvanced Inspection & Gauge MeasurementMachine Setups for Production RunsAerospace Manufacturing experienceMachines & Technologies You’ll UseCNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC) (Fanuc, Doosan, Dmg Mori Seiki, Okuma)2D DrawingsCNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) (Fanuc, Okuma, Dmg Mori Seiki)
