Job description

Aerospace CNC Turning Programmer (SolidWorks/CAMWorks)Salary commensurate with experience. Full-time role reporting to the Director of Quality.A day in the lifeMorning kicks off with a new aerospace print on your bench: you assess tolerances, materials, and sequence the most efficient turning strategy. You open SolidWorks to shape a clean, manufacturable model and move into CAMWorks to generate optimized toolpaths. You select cutters from our tooling library—swapping in innovative options when performance demands it—and post NC programs (G-Code/M-Code) with clear setup notes. If a fixture is needed, you design it and draft straightforward operation sheets for the tooling team. On the floor, you partner with CNC operators and setup pros during development and first-article runs, tuning feeds, speeds, and process flow until everything hits quality, cost, and schedule targets.About Cambridge Specialty CompanySince 1952, Cambridge Specialty Company has supported the aerospace industry as an approved supplier of jet engine service tools and precision aircraft parts. In our state-of-the-art 27,500 sq. ft. facility, we combine advanced equipment with an experienced, highly skilled team to deliver efficient, cost-effective production—resulting in exceptional jet engine service tools and critical flight safety parts and assemblies, on time. What you’ll ownProgram CNC turning machines for aerospace components.Build machining processes for simpler parts; collaborate closely on complex geometries.Create solid models, NC programs, setup sheets, and operation documentation for each step.Design fixtures as needed and provide clear operation sheets for tooling support.Work hands-on with operators and setup personnel during product development and initial runs.Select cutting tools (preferably from our library) while exploring innovative tooling solutions.Use SolidWorks for modeling and CAMWorks for integrated NC programming. What you’ll bringHands-on CNC lathe programming experience for aerospace work.Strong grasp of aerospace machining standards and best practices.Previous CNC Operator experience is highly desirable.Growth mindset and willingness to cross-train in other business areas.Technical strengthsGD&T, shop math, process development, and process engineering.CNC programming with G-Code and M-Code for turning operations.CNC machine setup & changeover and equipment troubleshooting.CNC tooling selection and optimization.Precision measurement & hand metrology; advanced inspection & gauge measurement.Aerospace manufacturing best practices and robust troubleshooting skills.Machine setups for production runs and precision measurement & inspection.Tools & machines you’ll use3D modeling (SolidWorks)2D drawings (SolidWorks)CAD (SolidWorks)CAM software (CAMWorks preferred)CNC latheSoftware backgroundProficiency with SolidWorks and CAMWorks is a plus.
