You’ll start your shift by reviewing engineering drawings and work instructions, prepping tooling and fixtures, and setting up 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC mills for the day’s runs. You’ll load material, align workpieces, and verify offsets. As the first chips fly, you’ll monitor feeds and speeds, adjust as needed to hold tight tolerances, and complete in-process checks with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision instruments. When a feature demands it, you’ll read GD&T callouts, confirm true position, and collaborate with engineering or programming to troubleshoot and optimize. Throughout the day, you’ll perform routine machine care, maintain a clean and safe work area, and finalize parts with thorough inspections before they move to the next operation.
