Job summary

SMF is hiring a CNC Machine Center Operator for 2nd or 3rd shift in Anderson, SC. You will set up and operate milling centers, read blueprints, and translate specifications into machine actions.

You will load materials, run test cycles, and manage full production cycles while ensuring quality. A strong mechanical aptitude, math skills, and the ability to lift 50 lbs are required. Join a top shop with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Read gauges and tape measures accurately.
• Operate overhead cranes safely.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and stand long periods.
• Proven experience as CNC Milling Machine Center Operator preferred.
• Good math, mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Milling Machine Centers to drill, grind, mill and related tasks.
• Read blueprints and mechanical drawings to understand specifications.
• Translate instructions into machine commands for correct function.
• Load raw materials and parts onto machines.
• Perform a test run to verify outputs against specs.
• Set machines for full cycles to fabricate parts.
• Supervise machines and adjust to improve results.
• Inspect finished products and compare with requirements.
• Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.

Starting Rates

• CNC Machine Operator A: $26.50
• CNC Machine Operator B: $24.50
• CNC Machine Operator C: $20.75
• $2.50/hr Shift Premium
• Classification based on experience and skills test performance

What You’ll Do

• Set up and operate CNC Milling Machine Centers to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
• Understands specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.
• Translates instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
• Prepares and loads raw materials and parts onto the machines
• Prepares a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
• Sets machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
• Supervises the machines while they execute the tasks and makes any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
• Inspects and measures finished products and compares them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
• Checks and maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to read gauges and tape measures
• Ability to operate overhead cranes
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
• Professional Certification is a plus
• Proven experience as CNC Milling Machine Center Operator (preferred)
• Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
• Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
• A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach
• Good communication abilities
