Job summary

Milton Manufacturing in Detroit, MI seeks a skilled CNC Machinist (1st shift) to set up, program, and operate CNC horizontal and vertical mills and boring mills to produce precision parts per blueprints and GD&T.

You will read prints, edit G-code/M-code as needed, select tooling, inspect parts with precision instruments, and maintain a safe, organized work area while adhering to ISO and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two or more years of CNC experience, preferably on horizontal and vertical mills and/or boring mills.
• Ability to read drawings and apply GD&T.
• Edit G-code and M-code programs at the machine control to adjust offsets, tooling and cutting parameters.
• Experience with basic computer systems.
• Detail oriented and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC horizontal and vertical mills, as well as boring mills, to produce parts meeting print and quality requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
• Perform some editing of G-code and M-code programs at the machine control to adjust offsets, tooling, and cutting parameters.
• Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and work-holding for horizontal, vertical, and boring mill operations.
• Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
• Demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a clean, organized work area at all times.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
