Job summary

General Machine & Boring Inc in Brighton, MI is seeking a skilled Boring Mill Operator to join our team. You will set up and run boring mills, read blueprints, and ensure tight tolerances in a fast-paced shop environment.

The ideal candidate has experience with horizontal/vertical boring mills, precision measurement, and a solid understanding of speeds and feeds. Mastercam experience is a plus and readiness to contribute to a quality-focused team.

Qualifications

• Experience operating horizontal mills in a machine shop.
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
• Knowledge of speeds, feeds, and metal cutting principles.
• Experience with Mastercam programming is a plus.

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining specifications.
• Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and attachments for each job.
• Monitor feeds, speeds, and cutting conditions to ensure optimal performance and part quality.
• Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges.
• Maintain and perform basic preventive maintenance on boring mill equipment.
• Document production records and report any quality or equipment issues to supervision.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs in a shop environment
