Job summary

Insight Global seeks a 2nd shift CNC Machinist to set up and operate horizontal boring mills for large, complex components. You will load tooling and programs, perform test cuts, and adjust speeds and feeds to meet strict specifications.

You must read blueprints and edit machine programs without a dedicated programmer. Experience with precision measurement tools and large equipment is highly valued in a rigorous manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

Job description

This 2nd Shift position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC boring mills to machine large, complex components to precise specifications. Duties include loading tooling and programs, performing test cuts, adjusting machine settings, speeds, and feeds, inspecting finished parts, and troubleshooting machining issues. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret blueprints, make program edits at the machine without programmer assistance, and maintain high standards of quality and productivity. Candidates should have experience operating CNC machining equipment and be proficient with precision measuring tools, machining principles, tooling, speeds, and feeds. The role also requires the ability to monitor tooling conditions, perform routine machine maintenance, and maintain a safe and organized work environment while producing quality parts that meet engineering specifications. Experience machining large components, weldments, or heavy industrial equipment is highly preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience running 4 axis Horizontal Boring Mills
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Must be able to operate and read precise measuring instruments associated with the job
• Ability to read and understand metric measuring system
