Job description

Velosity CMD is hiring an experienced CNC Mill Turn Machinist on 1st shift to support our manufacturing facility in Forest Lake, MN. The CNC Mill Turn Machinist operates and programs computer-controlled machines to produce precision metal or plastic parts.

*This role is eligible for a $8,000 sign on bonus. Agency candidates and internal candidates are not eligible for this bonus.

The typical pay range for this role: $27.81-$41.71/hour

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

This position includes a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 3:00pm - 1:00am

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to perform various machining operations.
  • Write and test CNC programs to ensure machines produce parts to specifications.
  • Perform first article inspections and make adjustments to ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production output, and any issues encountered.

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma/GED-General Studies
  • Certificate-Machine Trades or equivalent work experience: Preferred
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.

Experience/Skills:

  • Previous experience operating CNC lathes and other CNC machinery.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings and using precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Standing, Walking, Kneeling, Bending, Reaching, Pulling, Twisting, Turning, Seeing, Hearing
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

Work Conditions:

This is a non-smoking, professional tool shop with normal lighting, climate control. The shop environment may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in a tool making and/or molding shop.
