Job summary

Freeform is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Machining) in Hawthorne, CA for a new graduate class of December 2026. You will develop and optimize CNC programs for complex metal components using DMG Mori and Haas machines, interpret CAD drawings with GD&T, and establish machining standards in a fast-paced, cross-functional team.

You will work on post-processing of 3D-printed parts, tool selection, and process improvements, while collaborating with design engineers to solve manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Experience with CNC programming and machining (internships/colleges acceptable).
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize CNC programs for complex metal components, including post-processing of 3D printed parts.
• Program, set up, and refine operations on multi-axis CNC machines (DMG Mori and Haas).
• Interpret CAD models, drawings, and GD&T specs to create precise machining programs.
• Select and optimize cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and strategies for efficiency and repeatability.
• Troubleshoot CNC programming issues in collaboration with machinists and design engineers.
• Create and maintain CNC program libraries, tool databases, and process documentation.
• Implement process improvements to boost productivity and reduce cycle times.
• Collaborate with additive designers on workholding and design vs process changes.
• Design and deploy automation solutions to enhance quality control and production rates.
• Work on the production floor providing technical support and hands-on troubleshooting.
