Job summary

Freeform is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer (New Grad Summer 2027) to scale production of high-performance metal 3D printed parts in Hawthorne, CA. You’ll design manufacturing processes, optimize post-processing, and develop tooling to bridge R&D and production.

This hands-on, fast-paced role emphasizes learning, cross-functional collaboration, and clean documentation, with a path toward growing manufacturing capabilities as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Hands-on manufacturing or build experience from internships or clubs.
• Experience working with hand tools, machinery, or complex hardware assembly.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable manufacturing processes for new hardware and printed parts.
• Improve fixturing, test procedures, and post-processing steps to support part flow.
• Develop lightweight documentation and process standards to scale production.
• Build and iterate on tooling, jigs, and test setups for high-throughput production.
• Identify bottlenecks in parts, materials, and data flow; collaborate to improve them.
• Support early production of high-performance printed parts bridging R&D and manufacturing.
• Contribute to CNC machining workflows including programming and setup.
