Job summary

Freeform is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Machining) in Hawthorne/LA to develop, implement, and optimize CNC programs for precision metal components and post-processing of 3D printed parts. You will work with multi-axis DMG Mori and Haas machines, GD&T specs, and a cross-functional team to improve productivity and quality on a high-volume workflow.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in engineering and hands-on CNC experience, including tooling selection and process documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience with CNC programming and machining (internships and/or collegiate engineering clubs are acceptable).
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize CNC programs for complex metal components, including post-processing of 3D printed parts.
• Program, set up, and refine operations on multi-axis CNC machines (DMG Mori and Haas).
• Interpret CAD models, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications to create precise machining programs.
• Select and optimize cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies for efficiency and repeatability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve CNC programming issues, collaborating with machinists and design engineers.
• Create, maintain, and update CNC program libraries, tool databases, best practices, and process documentation.
• Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce cycle times, and increase machine utilization.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with additive designers on custom workholding, identifying whether design or process changes are the right fix for a given issue.
• Design and deploy automation solutions to enhance quality control and maximize production rates.
• Work on the production floor to provide technical support, training, and hands-on troubleshooting as needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality control processes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
