Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or trade school training or equivalent; 2+ years related experience.
• Customer-focused with ability to perform semi-routine set-up and fabrication of machined parts.
• Good knowledge of machining equipment and safe practices.
• Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints and diagrams.
• Skills to maintain workflow within the unit; strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan machine operations using drawings or instructions.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills or grinders to machine parts.
• Review drawings to determine tooling, holds and speeds/feeds.
• Perform first part inspection as needed; monitor quality.
• Prepare tooling and production stock for machining complex parts.
• Design or improvise tooling to assist in machine setups.
• Perform preventive maintenance and adjust machines as required.
• Provide guidance or training to junior machinists.
