Job summary

Moog Inc. in Buffalo, NY seeks a Machinist I to perform CNC lathe-setups, machine high-precision parts, and inspect finished work. You will read blueprints, use micrometers and gauges, and ensure tolerances on critical flight components.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; otherwise, ability to understand and apply instructions in English.
• At least 1 year experience as a general machinist OR graduation from a formal manufacturing, machining, or CNC certification/training program
• Graduation from a formal manufacturing, machining, or CNC certification/training program
• Demonstrated ability to follow an escalation path as it applied to machining
• Familiarity using various measuring equipment, including Micrometers and Dial Bore Gauges
• Competency in reading and interpreting blueprints and written work instructions
• In accordance with FAA regulations regarding Safety Sensitive Work, enrollment in the FAA Drug & Alcohol Program is required

Responsibilities

• Perform set-ups and run parts on a CNC lathe with milling capabilities to close tolerances, fine finishes, and complex geometry
• Inspect all work performed, set up or adjust gauging equipment, detect unusual conditions and deviant parts, and recognize errors in blueprints
• Interpret complex drawings, including GD&T blueprints, sketches and operation sheets
