Job summary

Haeger in Michigan is seeking a skilled Machinist to operate CNC milling and lathe machines, set up tooling, read engineering drawings, and create tool paths for prototypes and small-volume production.

You will write CNC programs, select machine settings, and plan machining sequences while collaborating with engineering to identify improvements. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in production machining, emphasis on prototype experience.
• Experience reading engineering prints and work instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Experience writing CNC programs for mills and lathes (MasterCAM preferred).
• Strong communication skills, ability to work in teams and with customers.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains CNC milling and lathe machines (vertical and horizontal).
• Machine parts/assemblies from various materials in prototype/small volume production.
• Create tool paths from product data and design inputs; prepare process sheets and drawings.
• Review drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate production.
• Write CNC programs for machines and select appropriate settings.
• Plan task sequences and regulate machining factors (speed, feed, coolant, depth).
• Identify opportunities for product improvement with the engineering team.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on machines.
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, gauges, calipers).
• Ensure 5S targets are met; complete work instructions.
