Job summary

Thorlabs, Inc. in Newton, NJ seeks a CNC Operator to set up and run Haas and Fanuc machines, read blueprints, and machine parts to tight tolerances.

You will inspect dimensions, document results, perform routine maintenance, and follow lean principles. The shift is 5:45am–2:15pm, Monday–Friday, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The role requires safety compliance, PPE use, and willingness to travel to other Thorlabs locations as needed.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of CNC experience in a similar role preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; CNC certification/training a plus.
• Read blueprints and interpret geometric tolerances (GD&T).
• Familiarity with Haas and Fanuc controls and G/M codes.
• Experience with maintaining and setting up CNC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC production equipment (milling, turning) per drawings.
• Machine and fixture parts to tight tolerances and complex geometries.
• Read blueprints and GD&T; inspect finished parts for conformance.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to safety rules.
• Assist with continuous improvement and setup time reduction.
