Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ seeks a CNC Machinist to set up and operate Haas or Fanuc controlled machines, read blueprints and GD&T, and fabricate precision fixtures. You’ll inspect parts, document measurements, and work under general supervision.

Shift hours are 5:45am–2:15pm, Monday–Friday, with a $5,000 sign‑on bonus. Qualifications include 3–5 years in a similar role, a high school diploma or equivalent, and CNC certification or trade school.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a similar position.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNC certification or CNC Trade School is a major plus.
• Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls.

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups on CNC milling, turning or similar operations.
• Fabricates tools and fixturing to tight tolerances and complex geometries.
• Reads blueprints and geometric tolerances (GD&T).
• Demonstrates strong programming and machine operation knowledge.
• Inspects dimensions of finished parts to ensure conformance.
• Performs routine maintenance and upkeep of machines.
• Ensures safety and maintains a clean, organized workspace.
