Title: CNC Mechanist
Location: Devens MA
Schedule: Mon-Fri 3pm-11:30pm (40 hrs weekly/no OT or travel)
Contract Length: 20 weeks with possible 4 week extension
Job Description:
CNC Machinist operates computer-controlled machine tools to produce precise
metal parts. They set up machines and test programs, and make adjustments as
needed to ensure high-quality parts are produced. CNC machinists also perform routine
maintenance on the machines and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities of a CNC Machinist:
• Operating CNC Machines:
CNC machinists are responsible for setting up and operating CNC machine tools.
• Following Blueprints and Specifications:
They interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine the correct machining
operations and parameters.
• Setting Up and Adjusting Machines:
They prepare the machines for operation by setting up tools, fixtures, and workholding
devices, and making adjustments as needed to ensure accuracy.
• Maintaining Machines:
They perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and calibrating
the machines, to ensure they are in good working order.
• Inspecting Parts:
CNC machinists inspect the finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and
tolerances.
• Troubleshooting Issues:
They troubleshoot problems that may arise during the machining process, such as tool
wear, material inconsistencies, or programming errors.
• Collaborating with Other Team Members:
CNC machinists often work with engineers, designers, and other team members to
optimize production processes and meet deadlines.
• Adhering to Safety Standards:
They follow safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
