Job summary

Kurt is seeking a Machinist Intern in Minneapolis, MN to gain hands-on experience in CNC machining while pursuing coursework. The role is 15–40 hours per week during school, with a starting pay range of $21.00 to $22.00 per hour. You will learn setup, operation, inspection, and process improvements.

The position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and developing technical skills in a manufacturing environment. High school diploma or GED and enrollment in a related program are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Enrolled in 1st year Machine Tool Technology or Automated Systems & Robotics Program.
• Communication proficiency.
• Math skills.
• Mechanical & Technical capacity.
• Ability to read blueprints and build to specifications.
• Knowledge of CNC controllers and tools.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines on machining centers to fabricate parts.
• Load parts in the machine, cycle machine and detect malfunctions in machine operations.
• Run production lots and communicate with co-workers regarding production runs.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or engineers.
• Operate CNC Mills and/or Lathes with knowledge of multiple pallets and coordinated systems.
• Perform inspection of machined products and document results.
• Analyze processes and provide solutions to reduce setup and cycle times.
• Complete and maintain paperwork for parts.
• Assist in other work areas as needed.
