Job Title: CNC Operator
Reports To: Shift Lead
Shifts: 2nd (3p-11p) or 3rd (11p-7a)
Pay Type: Hourly
Summary: Under minimal supervision, follow verbal and written instructions to machine assorted metal/plastic parts on CNC machines, aiming to meet production goals. Maintain quality and safety standards, keep records, and ensure proper maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions accurately.
- Monitor machine operation and report issues to the shift lead to ensure smooth operation.
- Safely load and unload feed mechanisms by lifting stock into CNC mills and lathes, taking care to avoid part distortion.
- Operate multiple machines simultaneously to meet production targets.
- Perform general maintenance and servicing of machines as scheduled or instructed.
- Mix and maintain cutting fluids and coolant levels appropriately.
- Clean and service machine tools; keep work area organized.
- Inspect parts during production using standard measurement tools to ensure they meet specifications, minimizing non-conformances.
- Complete job tracking records, including parts produced, scrapped, and run time.
- Record quality inspection data, such as feature measurements and inspection frequency.
- Report out-of-tolerance parts and machining issues promptly for corrective action.
- Visually inspect parts for finish quality, blemishes, scratches, or porosity.
- Deburr parts with standard and custom tools; perform secondary operations as needed.
- Operate vibratory tumblers.
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop floor, including sweeping and floor scrubbing; store tools properly.
- Follow safety protocols to prevent injuries and report unsafe conditions.
- Possess at least 6 months of operator experience.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve skills.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Basic math skills, including understanding fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Physical ability to lift approximately 50 lbs, stand, walk, and reach during shifts.
- Good vision, including close, distance, and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus.
