Job summary

SDM Composites in Santa Clarita, CA is seeking a CNC machine operator to set up and run CNC equipment, drill and mill materials, and verify parts against drawings.

You will monitor coolant, perform first article and in-process QC, and use micrometers and calipers to ensure parts meet specs; you must have good English communication and be able to work shifts safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Have good verbal and written English communication skills; ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
• Have neat penmanship for completing Manufacturing Plans, inventory logs, etc.
• Be familiar with the use of inspection hand tools (micrometer, caliper).
• High school diploma or GED preferred; prefer one year experience as a machine operator.

• Will set up the CNC machine, according to established procedures, to drill and mill required material and/or parts out of aluminum, stainless steel, Kapton, titanium, brass, copper, etc.
• Will utilize a lit or a drawing to verify that the machined parts conform to specifications.
• Will monitor the coolant levels and maintain CNC tooling.
• Will perform QC on first articles and on in-process parts.
• Will use micrometers and calipers to measure parts.
• Must be able to get along well with others.
• Must be able to work scheduled shift and meet company attendance requirements; must be flexible enough to stay late or modify work hours on short notice, if production deadlines require it.
• Must be able to perform the job safely; must comply with company safety rules and procedures.
• Must follow the lean philosophy and practice the 5 S's on a daily basis.
• Additional Duties, as assigned.
