Job summary

Hart Design & Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machinist to program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce machined parts while upholding quality and safety standards.

You will read blueprints, translate instructions into CNC commands, load materials, and run tests to ensure outputs meet specifications. You will also inspect finished parts, perform basic machining tasks, and maintain equipment and records.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or high school diploma, or a minimum of 1 year related experience preferred.
  • Proven experience as CNC operator.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Computer savvy with basic understanding of CAD/CAM.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
  • Keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
  • Good communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, turning.
  • Read blueprints and mechanical drawings to understand specifications.
  • Translate instructions into CNC commands for correct functions.
  • Load raw materials and parts, prepare test runs to verify outputs.
  • Set machines for full cycles to fabricate required parts.
  • Supervise machines and adjust to improve results.
  • Inspect and measure finished products against requirements.
  • Perform secondary and manual machining as needed.
  • Maintain machinery daily and keep work area clean and safe.
  • Complete paperwork for parts and assist in other areas as needed.
  • Demonstrate mathematical, mechanical, and technical capacity; strong time management.

Job description

A CNC Machinist Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities
  • Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, turning, etc.
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
  • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate the required number of parts
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
  • Perform all secondary and manual machining functions required to produce a quality part
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure the functionality
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
  • Completes and maintains paperwork for parts.
  • Assists in other work areas as needed such as assembly, inspection, building/grounds maintenance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling objects that are 30 pounds or heavier.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Flex hours may be allowed.

Education Requirements

A technical degree/certificate, high school diploma, or a minimum of 1 year of related experience is preferred.
