Job summary

Bolsan in Santa Clarita, CA is seeking a CNC Machine Operator to set up and run milling and drilling operations on aluminum, stainless steel and other materials. You will verify parts against drawings, monitor coolant and tooling, and perform first article and in-process QC.

Use micrometers and calipers to measure parts while adhering to safety rules, lean manufacturing principles, and the required shift schedule with potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1 year experience as a machine operator preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Familiarity with inspection hand tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Commitment to safety and lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

• Set up the CNC machine per procedures to drill and mill parts from aluminum, stainless steel, Kapton, titanium, brass, copper, etc.
• Verify machined parts against drawings and specifications.
• Monitor coolant levels and maintain CNC tooling.
• Perform first article and in-process QC.
• Use micrometers and calipers to measure parts.
• Adhere to safety rules and company policies; follow lean and 5S daily.

Job description

• Will set up the CNC machine, according to established procedures, to drill and mill required material and/or parts out of aluminum, stainless steel, Kapton, titanium, brass, copper, etc.
• Will utilize a lit or a drawing to verify that the machined parts conform to specifications.
• Will monitor the coolant levels and maintain CNC tooling.
• Will perform QC on first articles and on in-process parts.
• Will use micrometers and calipers to measure parts.
• Must be able to get along well with others.
• Must be able to work scheduled shift and meet company attendance requirements; must be flexible enough to stay late or modify work hours on short notice, if production deadlines require it.
• Must be able to perform the job safely; must comply with company safety rules and procedures.
• Must follow the lean philosophy and practice the 5 S's on a daily basis.
• Additional Duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

• Have good verbal and written English communication skills; ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
• Have neat penmanship for completing Manufacturing Plans, inventory logs, etc.
• Be familiar with the use of inspection hand tools (micrometer, caliper)
• High school diploma or GED preferred; prefer one year experience as a machine operator.
• Ability to be detail oriented and able to multi-task several functions.
• Ability to organize work to optimize efficiency.
