Job summary

Lamsco West, Inc. is seeking a dependable CNC Operator to set up CNC machines for drilling and milling aluminum, stainless steel and other materials. You will verify parts against drawings, monitor coolant and tooling, and perform first article QC using micrometers and calipers.

Ideal candidates will follow safety rules, lean 5S practices, and work cooperatively with team members to meet production deadlines and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; one year experience as a machine operator.
• Good English communication, both written and spoken.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and documentation.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a production environment.
• Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to changing directions.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC machines per procedures to drill and mill parts from various materials.
• Verify machined parts against drawings or lit references.
• Monitor coolant levels and maintain tooling.
• Perform first article and in-process QC checks.
• Use micrometers and calipers to measure parts.
• Follow safety rules and lean 5S practices; follow shift schedules and attend as required.

Job description

• Will set up the CNC machine, according to established procedures, to drill and mill required material and/or parts out of aluminum, stainless steel, Kapton, titanium, brass, copper, etc.
• Will utilize a lit or a drawing to verify that the machined parts conform to specifications.
• Will monitor the coolant levels and maintain CNC tooling.
• Will perform QC on first articles and on in-process parts.
• Will use micrometers and calipers to measure parts.
• Must be able to get along well with others.
• Must be able to work scheduled shift and meet company attendance requirements; must be flexible enough to stay late or modify work hours on short notice, if production deadlines require it.
• Must be able to perform the job safely; must comply with company safety rules and procedures.
• Must follow the lean philosophy and practice the 5 S’s on a daily basis.
• Additional Duties, as assigned.

Requirements: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

• Have good verbal and written English communication skills; ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
• Have neat penmanship for completing Manufacturing Plans, inventory logs, etc.
• Be familiar with the use of inspection hand tools (micrometer, caliper)
• High school diploma or GED preferred; prefer one year experience as a machine operator.
• Ability to be detail oriented and able to multi-task several functions.
• Ability to organize work to optimize efficiency.
