Job summary

SDM Composites is seeking a CNC Machine Operator to set up and operate CNC mills and drills on aluminum, stainless steel, and other materials. You will verify parts against drawings, monitor coolant levels, and maintain tooling to ensure first-article and in-process quality.

Ideal candidates have precision measurement skills using micrometers and calipers, good English communication, and the ability to work a scheduled shift with flexibility to stay late if needed.

Qualifications

• Good verbal and written English communication.
• Neat penmanship for completing Manufacturing Plans, inventory logs, etc.
• Familiar with inspection hand tools (micrometer, caliper).
• High school diploma or GED preferred; prefer one year experience as a machine operator.
• Ability to be detail oriented and able to multi-task several functions.
• Ability to organize work to optimize efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Set up the CNC machine per established procedures to drill and mill required materials and/or parts.
• Verify machined parts conform to drawings and specifications.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

• Will set up the CNC machine, according to established procedures, to drill and mill required material and/or parts out of aluminum, stainless steel, Kapton, titanium, brass, copper, etc.
• Will set up the CNC machine, according to established procedures, to drill and mill required material and/or parts out of aluminum, stainless steel, Kapton, titanium, brass, copper, etc.
• Will utilize a lit or a drawing to verify that the machined parts conform to specifications.
• Will monitor the coolant levels and maintain CNC tooling.
• Will perform QC on first articles and on in-process parts.
• Will use micrometers and calipers to measure parts.
• Must be able to get along well with others.
• Must be able to work scheduled shift and meet company attendance requirements; must be flexible enough to stay late or modify work hours on short notice, if production deadlines require it.
• Must be able to perform the job safely; must comply with company safety rules and procedures.
• Must follow the lean philosophy and practice the 5 S’s on a daily basis.
• Additional Duties, as assigned.

Requirements
