Job description

Join to apply for the CNC Machine Operator role at Epiroc.

Position Objective:

Operates special-purpose equipment, conventional (lathe/mill), and/or numerical control (NC) machines for fabricating metallic and nonmetallic parts that meet the high-quality machine standards required within the organization.

Essential Functions:
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to find dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Operate CNC mill, CNC lathe, manual mill, and drill press.
  • Set up machinery and ensure all production materials are available.
  • Operate Fork Lift.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine control as required.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Demonstrate basic to intermediate skill level (indicate part, turn OD's, and qualify ID and OD).
  • Use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.
  • Document quality inspections as directed by SOP.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned area.
  • Assist SHEQ in promoting and monitoring Safety First initiatives and goals as stated in the MR Operational Policy throughout the organization.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stretch, and stand for extended periods.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Knowledge/Educational Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate of Arts or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in the machinist trade is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills.
Experience Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of experience working with CNC machines.
Competency Requirements:
  • Operate equipment safely and in a controlled manner.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Work in environments with changing temperatures.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
