Job summary

AMI Precision Machining in Pomona, CA is seeking a CNC Lathe Setup Technician focused on GD&T and first-article inspection. You will lead end-to-end setups on 2–4 axis lathes, decode blueprints, verify critical features, and document results.

You will optimize tooling, offsets, speeds, and feeds, and own in-process inspection with precision hand metrology. The role supports aerospace and commercial customers; prior aerospace is not required, only a commitment to quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training/certification is a plus.
• Experience as CNC lathe operator with setup responsibility.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T fluency.
• Precision measurement and first-article inspection expertise.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of tooling, offsets, speeds, and feeds.
• Able to commute to Pomona for the day shift.
• Experience with Fanuc controls preferred.
• Background in aerospace or medical components preferred.
• Material experience: aluminum, stainless steel, titanium.
• Knowledge of CNC programming concepts including G-code and M-code.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end CNC lathe setups (2–4 axis) for first articles and production runs.
• Decode blueprints and GD&T, verify features, and document inspection results.
• Optimize tooling strategies and drive stable, efficient cycles.
• Own in-process inspection using precision metrology and gauges.
• Troubleshoot tooling, offsets, speeds, and feeds to maintain first-pass yield.
• Ensure safety and quality in a fast-paced shop.
