Job summary

South Bay Solutions in California is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to join our high-precision shop. This hands-on role requires setting up, troubleshooting, and operating CNC lathes to produce tight-tolerance components while upholding quality, safety, and productivity.

You will read blueprints and GD&T, edit G-code, and drive improvements in tooling and processes. Teamwork and meticulous attention to detail are essential as you support operators and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of CNC Lathe setup experience.
• Proficient reading of blueprints and GD&T specifications.
• Experience editing CNC programs and troubleshooting machining processes.
• Strong knowledge of machining tools, feeds, speeds and cutting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision machined components.
• Work from program notes, shop travelers, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
• Create efficient, operator-friendly setups that meet quality requirements.
• Edit and troubleshoot CNC programs (G-code/M-code).
• Inspect parts during production using precision measuring equipment.
• Recommend tooling and process improvements to boost efficiency and quality.
• Support operators and team members with troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
