Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist (Starship) in Hawthorne, CA to set up, program, and operate CNC machines for critical hardware. You will prioritize work, ensure tools are ready, and support peers in a fast-paced shop.

The role involves documenting data, improving techniques, and maintaining safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has 1+ years in CNC machining and the ability to read drawings, with preferred experience on Okuma MULTUS and Esprit CAD/CAM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 1+ years of experience in CNC machining.
• Experience with Okuma MULTUS CNC would be a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical data and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision setup, operation, and program editing of CNC machines (Okuma MULTUS) for production of non-flight and flight-critical hardware
• Prioritize daily production tasks to meet customer need dates while delivering high-quality parts
• Manage CNC cutting tools to ensure required tools are loaded, measured, and ready before program execution
• Perform on-machine deburring of hardware to improve part quality and reduce manual intervention
• Perform CNC machine preventative maintenance on a weekly and monthly basis
• Maintain shop organization and cleanliness through 5S practices and facility upkeep
• Support team members in a fast-paced environment and document process data at each stage
• Propose improvements in machining techniques, fixture design, and tooling to maximize efficiency
