Job description

CNC Centerless Grinder – 2nd Shift

Guhring is a world‑class manufacturer of round shank cutting tools, offering coating, reconditioning, and tool management services. With over a century of expertise and robust R&D, Guhring leads in cutting‑tool innovation. This position is full‑time, 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC grinding machines for complex machining of steel blanks.
• Perform frequent changeovers for small‑quantity custom orders.
• Maximize production efficiencies by running more than one machine simultaneously.
• Receive and review work assignments; verify dimensions, tolerances, and part counts.
• Follow established procedures for machine set‑up, tooling selection (grind wheels, bushings, collets, programs), and input tool values.
• Grind first piece, inspect, and adjust as needed.
• Dress and form abrasive wheels using standard dressing devices.
• Mount and secure tools, set wheel spindle speeds, feed rate, travel stops, and taper.
• Run equipment in auto‑cycle when possible, continually inspecting finished tools with measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Enter all production information into the data collection system.
• Monitor equipment performance, report problems, and request maintenance to prevent downtime and damage.
• Perform SPC procedures on all jobs.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
• Maintain a clean work area at all times.
