Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a CNC Cell Lead for large-scale milling and G-code optimization on the 2nd or 3rd shift in the Duluth, MN / Superior, WI area. This direct-hire role will own independent setups on large milling centers, edit G-code at the controller, and mentor junior operators to improve throughput and quality.

You will collaborate with design engineering and welding teams, handle high-strength steel components, and contribute to process improvements across the cell.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical diploma or associate degree in CNC machining or machine tool technology required.
• Demonstrated depth executing independent setups on large milling centers.
• Proficiency with controller-level G&M code editing and GD&T principles.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for process optimization.
• Stable work history with growth in technical roles.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex independent setups on large-scale CNC milling centers.
• Edit G-code and optimize program paths at the controller for precision components.
• Interpret complex engineering prints and apply GD&T standards.
• Conduct first-article inspections with precision metrology tools.
• Collaborate with design engineers and welding teams to resolve roadblocks.
• Provide floor leadership and mentor junior operators on setup techniques.
