Job summary

5th Axis is seeking a Quality & Automation Technician in Carlsbad, CA to support CNC machines, automation cells, and quality processes. You’ll assist with operation, material handling, dimensional inspection, documentation, and routine machine support, gaining exposure to multiple areas of advanced manufacturing.

The role welcomes candidates with varying experience levels; internal placement will be based on demonstrated skills, knowledge, and independence.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing technology.
• Ability to follow written instructions and setup sheets.
• Willingness to learn and operate inspection tools.

Responsibilities

• Support CNC machines and automated production operations.
• Assist with loading/unloading materials from machines and cells.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of manufactured components.
• Use calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools to verify parts meet requirements.
• Record inspection results and production data accurately.
• Follow setup sheets, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Monitor production and report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
