Job summary

Kurt J. Lesker Company is seeking a CNC Apprentice Trainer to mentor Machinist Apprentices in machining fundamentals, G-code interpretation, and precision measurement. This hands-on role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement in our shop.

You will guide apprentices in setup and operation of manual and CNC tools, GD&T, blueprint reading, and NIMS certification projects, empowering them to become skilled craftsmen who produce high‑quality components for critical industries.

Qualifications

• Advanced mathematical skills and measurement interpretation.
• Ability to teach entry-level machinists how to read measuring devices.
• Ability to teach blueprint reading and shop drawings.
• Ability to teach proper procedures and safety.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor Machinist Apprentices in machining fundamentals and quality components.

Job description

The CNC Apprentice Trainerisresponsible fortraining Machinist Apprentices in the fundamentals of machining through hands‑on instruction and mentorship. The CNC Apprentice Trainerwill guide apprentices in the setup and operation of manual and CNC machine tools, the inspection and measurement of finished components, and the completion of NIMS certification projects. Through practical, real-world training, apprentices will develop the skills needed to manufacture precision parts while buildinga strong foundationin machining best practices and quality standards.

Key Job Elements:

• Train and mentor Machinist Apprentices in machining fundamentals, safe work practices, blueprint reading, G-code interpretation, and the production of quality machined components
• Develop apprentice knowledge andproficiencyin manual machining operations, CNC machining, and related manufacturing processes
• Provide instruction on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ensure its proper application in manufacturing operations
• Support apprentices in troubleshooting machining issues,identifyingroot causes, and implementing process improvements
• Promote and enforce KJLC safety standards, including the safe and proper use of overhead cranes and lifting equipment
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements
• Communicate effectively and provide clear verbal and written guidance to apprentices and team members
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, craftsmanship, quality, and operational excellence within the machine shop
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required

• Advanced Mathematical skills
• Ability to teach entry level machinist apprentice how to read and understand measuring devices
• Ability to teach entry level machinist apprentice how to understand blueprints and shop drawings
• Ability to teach entry level machinist apprentice proper procedures and safety

Preferred

• 8 to 15 years of on-the-job experience as a machinist
