Job summary

CACI is seeking two CNC Machinists in support of NSWCCD Fabrication Group, Bethesda, MD, for milling parts used in DoD ship/submarine system development in a state-of-the-art prototype shop with HAAS and Doosan machines.

You will work with 4- and 5-axis CNCs, read blueprints and GD&T, set up tooling, and maintain tight tolerances; ideal candidates have 1–3 years CNC experience or apprenticeship and can lift up to 80 pounds.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years CNC machining work or completed machinist apprenticeship.
• Journeyman CNC Machinist qualification.
• Trade School certificate.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• DoD Secret Clearance or capability to be granted and maintain DoD Secret Clearance.
• Knowledge of Shop, Facility and Division Safety Policies and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC Vertical machining centers for CAM-provided programs.
• Experience with 4- and 5-axis CNC machines.
• Ability to design and build fixtures preferred.
• Knowledge of G and M codes; programmable at control to edit CAM programs.
• Select appropriate cutters and tool holders.
• Set up and operate the full range of machine tools in a prototype shop.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy to tolerances +/- .001" using inspection tools.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of Mil-Spec and GD&T specifications.
• Work from verbal instructions and sketches.
• Perform machine shop math and trig.
