Job summary

PVH Potomac Valley Hospital in West Virginia invites you to join our Nursing team as a Nurse's Aide. The role supports admissions, transfers, discharges, and direct patient care across a busy medical-surgical unit.

You'll observe and report patient concerns, assist with hygiene, vital signs, specimen collection, and ensure a clean, safe environment. The position requires a HS diploma, BLS, and state CNA certification, with day shifts available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• State nurse's aide certifications (MD, OH, PA, WV) required as listed.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns or changes in condition to Nursing Staff.
• Assist Nursing Staff with admission, transfer, discharge and routine patient care duties.
• Record vital signs, assist with personal hygiene, and monitor intake and output.
• Assist in specimen collection and other patient care activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and protect patients and staff.
• Report equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues with Nursing Staff (appetite, diet changes).
• Assist department with administrative tasks to support operations.
• Answer patient call bells and relay messages to appropriate personnel.

• MD: Certified Nursing Assistant through the Maryland Department of Health

• OH: Nurse's Aide Certification through the Ohio Department of Health

• PA: Nurse's Aide Certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Health

• WV: Nurse's Aide Certification through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

4. Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.

5. Assists in indirect patient care by maintaining a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors and employees.

6. Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel according to departmental procedure in a timely manner.

7. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.

8. Communicates with Nursing Staff regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.

10. Assists department with administrative tasks to support the department operations.

11. Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate personnel.
